The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Extremadura Energy Agency (Agenex) have signed the contract for the development of the Strategy for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energies in Extremadura - GREENER-Ex.

GREENER-Ex has been approved, with a budget of €1.4 million, to be developed over the next three years within the framework of the EIB's ELENA programme.

ELENA is a European programme designed to support regional and local authorities wishing to invest in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies.

With GREENER-Ex, Agenex will support more than 150 municipalities, the two Provincial Councils and Gobex in a strategy that aims to invest more than 46M€ by 2017.

In most cases, investments will be made through public-private partnerships and energy service companies.

The main investment axes are:

-          Efficiency and renewable energy in construction: 18M €
-          Street lighting: 23M €
-          Mobility: 4M€
